A letter from our founder
Dear reader,
Some of my favourite nights have been spent alone. The house quiet, a candle burning, a book I couldn't put down and absolutely nowhere else I wanted to be.
For a long time, the books I loved most were the ones people rolled their eyes at. Spicy. Smutty. A guilty pleasure. But I never understood what the guilt was for. These are stories written largely by women, for women, about desire, confidence and being wanted exactly as you are.
Desire is one of the most human, most beautiful things about us. It deserves candlelight, not apologies. So I built Badly Behaved Books. A place where the books you love are celebrated out loud. Where a night in with a good book is a ritual worth making beautiful. And where pleasure, on the page and off it, is something to enjoy fully and proudly.
